Giving Falls Off During the Summer

  Donate

Summer is an especially critical time of year at the Durham Rescue Mission—because our donations go down as many of our friends leave for well-deserved vacations. This puts a strain on our ability to minister to hungry and homeless people.

The needs of our homeless neighbors are just as dangerous in the summer. With constant exposure to temperatures well over 90º compounded by having to walk on black asphalt, severe sunburn, sun poisoning, and even heat stroke are real threats that can lead to additional suffering, and even death!

In fact, did you know that more people die each year from heat strokes than from hypothermia?

That is why your help is so vital—to ensure there is a cool, refreshing oasis in which to retreat from the blazing sun for all in need who come to the Durham Rescue Mission.

The need is great this time of year. And, frankly, the gifts from caring friends like you help provide life-changing services to all who come to the Durham Rescue Mission.

Thank you for your support—you are a true blessing to people in desperate need this summer.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ernie C. Mills, CEO
