Help Someone in Need … Like John, Today!

  Donate

If you want to help local homeless men, women and children, you can’t find a better investment than the Durham Rescue Mission.

We treat the whole person here — addressing not only the essential needs of food and shelter, but more importantly, the root issues of homelessness, which are often spiritual. (That way people receive the resources they need, and with God’s help, get off the streets permanently.)

But as a Christian nonprofit, we’re also 100% committed to stretching your donations beyond what you would ever think possible.

Thanks to you, we’re able to . . .

• Provide a complete, nourishing meal at the Mission for only $2.05. Even most fast
food “value meals” are over $5.00.
• Offer a night of shelter for only $16.73. Compare that to a cheap motel, which often
exceeds $75 per night. Or prison, where the average cost exceeds $85 per day.
• Distribute gently worn clothes for pennies on the dollar of what they’d cost at
value or department stores.
• And offer other life-transforming resources — like counseling, GED classes, work
programs, addiction recovery classes and more . . . all provided for a fraction
of what they’d normally cost.

Yes, your support enables us to provide all of these services free of charge! That’s why I hope you will continue your faithful prayers and support for our work today. You are showing mercy to people who cannot provide for themselves.

When it comes to restoring broken lives and getting people off of the streets, there is no better investment — and no better value for your money — than a gift to the Durham Rescue Mission.

How Your Investment Changed John’s Life (and many others, too!)

John made a series of bad decisions that ruined his life when he was still a young man. “I tried to make fast money on the Triangle’s streets,” he remembers. Instead, that lifestyle left him destitute and addicted.
He came to the Durham Rescue Mission for a second chance. Things were going well, too . . . until he left our recovery program early. “I found out the hard way I should have stayed,” he said.

For the next ten years, John was in and out of jail, struggling with addiction. Eventually, he came to accept that he could not recover on his own.

Return to the Mission

That realization led John back here. This time, he committed to completing the program. And today, he really is a new man:

“It’s a blessing to have a bed to sleep in and food to eat. It gives me a security that I never had on the streets. Now I’m learning to depend on the Lord, I’m working, and I have hope for my future.”

So please . . . give a generous donation today to help us continue changing lives. Your support provides food, shelter and other life-transforming services for our homeless neighbors at a fraction of the price those services would cost anywhere else. And you will make a life-transforming difference for those trying to escape the streets.
