Last year the Durham Rescue Mission provided 168,147 meals to the hungry and homeless in our area and gave out 2,450 bags of groceries to needy families.

One of those receiving food was a lady named Sharon who came to the Mission seeking shelter and food.  She made the statement that she had slept under bridges and had to eat out of a dumpster behind a local grocery store.  She said she felt hopeless, useless and as low as a person could feel. Because of many friends who have donated food to the Mission, Sharon found safe shelter and hot nutritious meals!  She graduated from our program and now has a full time job and has moved out of the Mission!

Often hope starts with one hot meal!  We are asking church groups, businesses and individuals to join us in our Campaign to Restock our Pantry, so we will be prepared to help people like Sharon who come to us seeking help!

Canned food and meat products can be dropped off at 1201 E Main St.
