Operation Warm Shelter in Effect at Durham Rescue Mission
Weather prediction for our area:
Tuesday, November 18, 2008:
25 degrees, feels like 17….average winds up to 10 mph….windy and cold.
The freezing temperatures and wind predicted in our area for the next few days is causing concern for those who do not have warm shelter from this bitter wintry weather.
Staff and residents of the Durham Rescue Mission are very worried about the safety of the homeless and plan to go out Tuesday offering them warm shelter from the life-threatening weather conditions. A group will be leaving from 1201 E Main St. campus at 3:00 pm.
With more people expected to be coming to the Mission for help, the Durham Rescue Mission could use any of the following items to help care for those in need:
• Food, especially breakfast meats, bacon and sausage
• Towels and wash cloths
• Disposable diapers for babies at the Mission, especially sizes 4 and 5
Please help us get the word out that there is warm shelter available at the Durham Rescue Mission for those who may not have the ability to stay warm on these cold winter nights. Men may come to 1201 East Main street location and women and children may come to the Good Samaritan Inn located at 507 East Knox Street. Please contact us, if you know someone in need of warm shelter.
